Tignes
High-altitude skiing without the road. Reach Tignes and its glacier in minutes, skis included, and hit the snow as soon as you land.
Tignes sits between 1,550 and 2,100 metres in the heart of the Tarentaise valley, built around its lake and villages (Tignes le Lac, Le Lavachet, Val Claret, Tignes 1800). Linked to Val d'Isère to form the Espace Killy, the resort gives access to the Grande Motte glacier, one of the most snow-sure areas in the Alps. The drive up the valley, often congested on winter Saturdays, can take hours; the helicopter drops you right at the resort, skis and luggage included. Ideal for a changeover day, an arrival from Geneva or a quick hop to Courchevel or Megève.
